The thought of another 30 hour bus trip made us shudder so we booked a cheap flight to Bariloche up the north of Argentina.
We didn’t expect too much out of Bariloche, it was more just a quick stop over on our way to Chile…….
Five days later we were still there! It’s such a beautiful lake town, famous for its lakes, bike trails, abundance of chocolate shops and amazing parillas (Argentinian BBQ). The hostel we stayed at was probably one of the main reasons we stayed on so long, it was quiet season and was pretty much just us and the two amigos who ran the hostel, Santi & Marlena.
They were awesome to hang with and it was easy to laze the days away drinking beers in the sun and listening to good music and doing the odd bike tour around the lakes. On our last night Santi put on a big Parilla for us and got a whole bunch of his mates around- it was definitely the best bbq we have ever had, those Argentinians really know how to cook meat!
We knew we had to eventually stop coming down in the morning and telling Santi we were staying one more night so we packed up and headed over the border to Chile.
